About The Position

The Registered Nurse Infusion Center (PRN) at Firelands Health will administer nursing care for outpatients, participate in patient and family teaching, and provide leadership by working cooperatively with the nursing department and interdisciplinary team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the infusion center setting. This role involves assessing patient conditions and needs, setting goals, and prescribing appropriate nursing actions. The nurse will administer immunotherapy/chemotherapy, other medications as ordered by the Physician, and provide wound care. Responsibilities include reporting patient observations, participating in meetings, handling patient-related calls, assisting in report preparation and procedure development, and developing patient/family teaching programs. The role also involves providing direct and/or indirect patient care, ensuring economical utilization of supplies, maintaining equipment, demonstrating professional commitment, and completing patient charge forms for accurate billing. The nurse must be able to serve patients of all ages.

Requirements

  • Current Ohio R.N. license.
  • Ability to maintain neat and orderly records, reports and forms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to handle difficult telephone and face-to-face inquiries.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to lift immobile patients.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers nursing care for outpatients.
  • Participates in patient and family teaching.
  • Provides leadership by working cooperatively with the nursing department and interdisciplinary team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the infusion center setting.
  • Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs; sets goals; prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs.
  • Administers immunotherapy/chemotherapy as needed.
  • Administers other medications as ordered by the Physician and provides wound care and other nursing skills as needed.
  • Reports pertinent patient observations and reactions to the appropriate person and records those observations accurately and concisely.
  • Participates in daily report and other routine meetings.
  • Handles incoming calls relating to patient care addressing needs/updating patient by the end of the business day.
  • Assists in preparing reports and developing procedures.
  • Develops and utilizes teaching programs for patients and families based on their specific need.
  • Provides direct and/or indirect care to patients utilizing Firelands practice standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.
  • Participates in economical utilization ordering of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Demonstrates professional commitment through membership in specialty organization and nursing committees.
  • Completes patient charge form, to facilitate accurate billing.
