About The Position

The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center located in Moreno Valley, is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC for the MSC Recovery (PACU) Department. The RN is responsible for independent peri-anesthetic management of a complex, varied surgical and procedural population. Under supervision, the incumbent will care for pre and post-op patients; perform professional nursing duties in the care and services to patients and their families at the Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC), Community Health Clinics (CHC) or other RUHS locations as assigned, assist physicians and carry out their orders, coordinate a continuum of care for a selected group of patients from pre-admission through post-discharge, and other related duties as required. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, Blue Cloud-National Stroke Association, or Apex. The most competitive candidates will possess at least one (1) year of critical care nursing experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Emergency Department (ED) setting. Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred. Additional Differentials: Critical Care - $4.00 per hour Critical Care differentials will be applied following completion of required specialty training, attainment of all necessary certifications, and departmental determination that the employee is authorized to work independently. Work Schedule: 5/40 - Monday to Friday Hours: 10:00 a.m to 6:30 p.m, schedule flexibility preferred. Meet the Team! Requirements

  • Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • Equivalent to three years of full time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility or community health agency with references and evaluations to show appropriate skill level.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, and twist while providing patient care; and lift, push, pull and transfer patients and equipment, typically up to 25-50 pounds with assistance as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a national certification in a nursing specialty may substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Within the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act, assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; make preliminary observations of, and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
  • After surgery, receive patient monitoring through phase I, phase II and discharge planning.
  • As directed, administer or dispense prescribed treatment and medications to patients; chart treatment and dispensing to patients, and record and report significant changes in condition and general progress of patient.
  • Provide discharge instructions prior discharge.
  • Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; instruct patients in carrying out physicians' orders.
  • May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
  • Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities; identify staff training needs.
  • May testify in court as to the client's mental and physical condition; may recommend initiating conservatorship investigations when assigned to the mental health setting.
  • May coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third-party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
  • May review the post hospital care plan with the patient/family, establishing a contact regarding timeframes and responsibilities; follow plan through discharge.
