RN II Nexton Pediatric After Hours- Full Time
About The Position
This is a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) position within the Pediatric After-Hours Clinic. The role includes a combination of two 8-hour after-hours shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend required. MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Nexton is a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under the Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric ENT, GI, and Cardiology only to name a few. In addition to that, we provide a walk-in After Hours Care, which is a direct extension of our pediatric emergency department to serve our community during the hours when most pediatricians are closed.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- Charge Nurse experience recommended.
Responsibilities
- Provide care in a pediatric outpatient clinic setting.
- Serve as a direct extension of the pediatric emergency department.
- Work a combination of two 8-hour after-hours shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week.
- Work every other weekend.
- Administer injections.
- Conduct physical exams.
- Take patient vitals.
- Read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Comply with infection control protocols.
- Use personal protective equipment.
