About The Position

Registered Nurse II – PreOp Specials Department at Texas Health Southlake. This is a full-time position working 30 hours a week, primarily during the day on Monday through Friday, with 10-hour shifts and rotating days. The role does not involve on-call duties or weekend work. The PreOp Specials Department is highlighted for its Clinical Excellence, Professional Development, Strong Leadership, and use of cutting-edge technology like EHR.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program is required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire is required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days is required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 Days is required.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing is preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years, Day Surgery, Med-surg, PCU experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to others' priorities regarding safety, physical, psychological and social needs.
  • Provides safe patient care by using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations, completing accurate documentation in the electronic health record, completing assessments accurately and in a timely manner, individualizing care plans specific to the needs of the patient, and providing consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs.
  • Demonstrates mutual problem solving by providing information using up-to-date literature and approved tools, validating patient knowledge through teach back, accepting feedback from patients and adopting patient ideas, prioritizing and individualizing care delivery based on professional judgment, and using listening skills to engage others.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
