This role involves providing direct patient care, following professional practice standards, and contributing to the improvement of patient care through inquiry and evidence-based practice. The Registered Nurse II will also be involved in mentoring peers and students, facilitating learning for the healthcare team, and actively participating in initiatives to enhance safety and implement best practices. The position requires a strong understanding of systems thinking to anticipate patient needs and navigate the healthcare environment, as well as a commitment to inclusion, respecting patient values and cultural differences. Clinical judgment is essential, involving the collection and interpretation of complex patient data, making informed clinical judgments, and documenting care effectively. The nurse will respond to subtle patient changes, tailor care to individual needs, promote a healing environment, and integrate age-specific concepts into care. Self-management support and teach-back strategies will be used in partnership with patients to develop care goals and evaluate effectiveness. Coordination of education with the healthcare team and integration of strategies to support patient/family adaptation to the home environment are also key aspects of this role.
