About The Position

The Float Pool RN II provides care to complex Emergency and Telemetry Department patients and functions as a clinical resource in the Emergency and Telemetry/Med Surge Departments to staff, physicians, and families. The Float Pool RN II may participate in the development of orientation and training of new staff and acts as a preceptor to staff in the Emergency and Telemetry/Med Surge Departments. The Float Pool RN II may assume the position of PCC in the Emergency and Telemetry/Med Surge Departments and is responsible for completion of the daily staffing sheet, patient care assignments, and acting as a liaison between all departments and physicians. The Float Pool RN II serves as a role model to all staff by demonstrating strong critical thinking skills and professional attitude and appearance. The Float Pool RN II uses effective verbal and written skills to communicate with people on all levels, and maintains positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. The Float Pool RN II participates in departmental or hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities and monitoring as requested.

Requirements

  • California Registered Nurse License
  • BLS Provider Course
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • Previous ED and Telemetry/Med Surge Experience
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Successful mastery of nursing skills and knowledge for an RN II position
  • Basic EKG Course to be completed before the end of the orientation period of employment/transfer
