About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Harlingen Medical Center. The role involves providing high-quality care to critically ill patients, utilizing advanced equipment, administering medications and treatments, managing life-support devices, and offering emotional support to patients and their families. Accurate documentation and adherence to infection control and safety protocols are essential.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Nice To Haves

Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions.
Use advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters.
Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions.
Manage life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors.
Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided.
Document all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients.
