The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 7-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit featuring private rooms equipped for advanced patient monitoring, including ECG, SPO2, and hemodynamic pressure monitoring. Telemedicine Intensivist services are available 24/7. The unit's skill mix includes Registered Nurses (RNs) and Patient Care Technicians. Management of the ICU and Acute Care Unit is overseen by a full-time Nurse Director and a Clinical Coordinator. Staffing levels are adjusted based on patient acuity and volume per shift. The Clinical Nurse roles (I, II, and III) integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to provide patient care, assist the healthcare team in preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort. These roles involve delivering and documenting direct, age-specific care, safely administering medications, and identifying incompatibilities or interactions. Higher levels (Clinical Nurse II and III) demonstrate mastery of clinical skills, apply knowledge to specific patient populations, recognize and intervene in changing patient situations, mobilize resources, and assume leadership responsibilities. Clinical Nurse III also serves as a role model.
