About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU position at Texas Health HEB is a PRN (as needed) role for the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This 18-bed unit specializes in Trauma, Neurosurgical, and Cardiovascular patient care. The role offers opportunities for professional growth, career development, and training in high acuity skills such as Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Targeted Temperature Management, Impella, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). The unit is fast-paced and high-acuity, with 24/7 Intensivist coverage for exceptional patient oversight. The hospital, Texas Health HEB, is a 322-bed acute-care, full-service hospital serving the DFW mid-cities since 1973. It holds ANCC Magnet® designation, is Joint Commission-certified in Chest Pain, a Primary Stroke Center, and a Level III Trauma Center, also offering Level III NICU and Level III Maternal Care services.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma in Nursing required
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
- Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
- BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- ACLS – within 90 days required
- NIHSS – within 60 days of hire
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
- 1 Year of experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- Current ICU experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
