About The Position

Riverside Smithfield Hospital, a new facility in Smithfield, Virginia, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This part-time, day shift position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care in a state-of-the-art environment. The RN will be responsible for the comprehensive nursing care of assigned patients, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director. The role involves assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, delegating tasks, and ensuring adherence to Riverside Health System's standards of excellence.

Requirements

  • Nursing Degree required - ADN, BSN, or MSN.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required within 90 days of start)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients.
  • Utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity.
  • Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with the RN to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Demonstrates competence in dealing with age-related needs of specific patient populations served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments.
  • Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care in accordance with standards of excellence and facility goals.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination of care.
  • Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education methods to ensure patient/family comprehension.
  • Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver.
  • Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
