About The Position

The Registered Nurse CC is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. The role assists physicians and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. This includes coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. The nurse may serve as a preceptor for clinical staff, relying on experience and judgment to accomplish responsibilities with minimal supervision. Creativity is expected, and the nurse may lead and direct the work of others within their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Per license requirements
  • Proficient in the English language, verbal and written communication skills, computer skills
  • Current Louisiana State license as RN
  • BLS

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data.
  • Formulate a plan of care based on trends of similar patients, including patient education and discharge planning.
  • Tailor and prioritize caring practice to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs.
  • Actively participate in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (e.g., treatment options, patient placement options, end-of-life options).
  • Respond immediately to changes in patient's needs and provide holistic care using independent clinical judgment based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
  • Adapt planned educational programs and information to individual patients and families by modifying teaching strategies or content, and integrate this education during the delivery of patient care.
  • Ensure efficiency in the delivery of care, determine immediate priorities, and offer solutions for problems as needed.
  • Actively advocate for patient rights and identify potential conflicts, seeking counsel for resolution of conflict as necessary.
  • Identify variances from expected outcomes and make revisions in the plan of care based on patient outcomes as necessary.
  • Accurately document all patient care activities per documentation standards and provide assistance to the healthcare team with the documentation process as needed.
  • Consistently provide communication and collaboration with health care team members, patients, and families to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Appropriately delegate patient care activities to other health care team members and participate in making and revising staff assignments to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Maintain knowledge regarding unit initiatives, incorporating the outcomes of team/committee work into practice.
  • Actively participate on unit teams, work groups, and/or committees as requested; anticipate needs and voluntarily assist others.
  • Serve as a clinical resource to health care team members, mentor and precept, display leadership behaviors, and provide direction and guidance to others regarding practice as needed.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives by utilizing standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice to enhance outcomes.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Actively participate on committees as needed.
  • Act as a backup for others in the department as needed.
