About The Position

The Registered Nurse I, under general supervision, provides professional nursing care to the university community by performing clinical assessments, treatments, patient education, and administrative support while maintaining quality standards and patient confidentiality. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Licensed RN and CPR certified.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine nursing procedures and clinical techniques.
  • Assess, observe, and screen patients; monitor and record vital signs.
  • Performs therapeutic measures and report patient conditions to the physician or other healthcare provider.
  • Refer patients to the physician as appropriate and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Provide phlebotomy services.
  • Assist with the distribution of patient medications as required.
  • Maintain required patient records and Department of State Health Services documentation.
  • Utilize and manage the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare regulations and university policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to, strategically planning and coordinating professional development training and workshops for Extension Agents and Specialists; representing the Cooperative Extension Program (CEP) on committees, professional society boards, and other key organizations at the state, regional, and national levels.
