About The Position

The Registered Nurse I role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals with serious mental illness, both in acute and chronic phases. This position requires critical thinking skills to manage multiple priorities, the ability to formulate and implement broad-based nursing actions and individualized treatment interventions in complex care situations, and knowledge and skill in group leadership and dynamics. The nurse will supervise and evaluate the performance of others, providing actionable feedback, and delegate effectively according to regulations. Collaboration, problem-solving, and negotiation with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and other departments are essential. The role also requires effective oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical conditions, biopsychosocial needs of patients, and the principles and practices of psychiatric nursing.

Requirements

  • Active RN license to practice in VA or License eligible; multi-state compact endorsement is accepted

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or higher education degree
  • Prior work experience providing customer service
  • Prior work in a health care setting
