Requirements

  • Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Requires ability pass a background check.
  • Requires ability meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, and in conformance with established standards, procedures, and policy, provides a full range of professional nursing services in the care and treatment of residents, such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, examining residents using nursing assessment skills and monitoring physical conditions and reactions to various treatments and adheres to State and Federal regulatory guidelines utilizing professional training and experience in the field of nursing.
  • Prepares and maintains medical records and histories such as recording physician's orders, charting medications, recording resident conditions and behaviors.
  • Provides guidance, instruction and explanation of patient care and treatment and the use of equipment to non-professional nursing staff.
  • Makes regular rounds of residents in relation to nursing duties and physician rounds.
  • Sets up, operates, and monitors special equipment, such as aspiration equipment and suction equipment.
  • Orders and maintains medications and other medical equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
