About The Position

The Registered Nurse I provides nursing care for patients in the Cardiovascular/Thoracic Yale Operating Room at the Yale Campus. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care using the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures, monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This is not a new graduate position. ICU experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Completion of the basic professional curriculum of a school of nursing approved and verified by a state board of nursing, with a diploma or degree, or entitlement to hold one.
• Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
• 0–6 months of related experience.
• Working knowledge of general disease-state management processes, the biopsychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to attend to detail when examining clinical and numerical data.
• Participation in an on-call rotation with a 30-minute response time.

Nice To Haves

• ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Assess, organize, and complete care while considering patients' age, cultural background, and psychosocial factors.
• Document the steps of the nursing process and use proper medical terminology.
• Address patient problems and progress toward goals.
• Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and patient education resources suited to the patient's age and cultural and psychosocial factors.
• Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
• Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, including attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
