About The Position

Under general supervision, provides professional nursing services to individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services. Performs nursing assessments, medication administration, health screenings, treatment implementation, consumer education, and care coordination activities. Ensures delivery of safe, effective, person-centered care consistent with physician orders, accepted nursing standards of practice, and organizational policies. May function as a lead worker and provide guidance or supervision to assigned staff.

  • Ability to accurately document nursing services and consumer progress.
  • Ability to implement established treatment protocols and program activities.
  • Ability to inspect and monitor equipment for proper operation and safety.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities with professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of emergency response and code procedures.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics, patient movement, and safe lifting practices.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures for moving and assisting consumers.
  • Knowledge of nursing care plans, diagnosis, treatment planning, and nursing interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance use disorders, physical health conditions, and treatment approaches.
  • Knowledge of facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice standards, first aid, and infection control principles.
  • Knowledge of consumer confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; OR Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current unrestricted Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully complete required criminal background screening and pre-employment drug testing.
  • Upon appointment to the position, the employee assumes responsibility for meeting and maintaining all minimum qualification requirements, including applicable certifications, licenses, continuing education, competency validations, and mandatory annual or recurrent training.
  • Failure to maintain such requirements may affect eligibility to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes screening and assessment data to determine appropriate treatment services and referrals.
  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessments and evaluations.
  • Obtains and documents health, behavioral health, and substance use histories utilizing appropriate interviewing techniques.
  • Performs physical assessments and visual examinations as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation.
  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with agency policies and nursing standards.
  • Provides nursing care and preventive health interventions consistent with physician orders and established nursing practice guidelines.
  • Assists in determining appropriate levels of care based on physician, nursing, and clinical assessments.
  • Performs venipuncture and laboratory procedures as authorized.
  • Monitors, documents, and reports changes in consumer condition, symptoms, and responses to treatment.
  • Treats consumers with dignity, respect, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Provides consumer and family education regarding diagnoses, disease processes, medications, wellness, and treatment recommendations.
  • Accurately transcribes, implements, and documents physician orders.
  • Maintains required logs, tracking systems, clinical records, and reports.
  • Coordinates referrals to community resources and services when appropriate.
  • Maintains consumer safety and security within assigned program areas.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, clinical staff, consumers, families, and community providers.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team activities and care coordination efforts.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable nursing standards, regulations, and organizational requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
