About The Position

The Registered Nurse I provides nursing care in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry Unit at the South Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The role assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care using the nursing process and following hospital standards and unit policies and procedures, with the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This is an ECB position requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings. The position works nights, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and has been identified as safety sensitive under Oklahoma law.

Requirements

Completion of the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing approved and verified by a state board of nursing, with a diploma or degree from that school or eligibility to receive one.
Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
0–6 months of related experience.
Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, the biopsychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
Ability to be detail-oriented when examining clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

Use the nursing process to care for patients.
Assess, organize, and complete patient care while considering patient age and cultural, psychosocial, and other relevant factors.
Document each step of the nursing process and use proper medical terminology.
Address patient problems and progress toward goals.
Facilitate patient discharge through timely and appropriate referrals and patient education resources suited to patient age and cultural and psychosocial factors.
Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, including attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
