About The Position

The Mother Baby Unit/ Anterpartum unit is a 29 bed unit providing antepartum, postpartum and newborn care through the Couplet Care model. We also care for moms in 7 couplet care rooms in the NICU. Maternal care is provided for all stable postpartum patients, whether vaginal or cesarean. Neonatal care is provided to all low-risk infants, stable based on perinatal regionalization critera, including therapies such as phototherapy, IV antibiotics, and low risk NAS support. Primary diagnoses for our antepartum population include preterm labor, premature rupture of membranes, gestational diabetes, and pregnancy-induced hypertension.The staffing mix includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians and Unit Secretaries. Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
