About The Position

The House Supervisor at Unity Hospital is a leadership role responsible for overseeing 311+ beds, encompassing the Emergency Department, Family Birthplace, Surgical Services, 14 medical-surgical units, and a 20-bed ICU. This role involves managing critical situations, including RRT and Code Team support, in collaboration with ICU charge nurses and providers. The supervisor works with a centralized staffing office and an off-shift nurse manager to ensure adequate staffing and operational efficiency. The position requires a strong understanding of various clinical skills and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience required.
  • EPIC required.
  • ACLS certification.
  • BLS certification.
  • Inpatient Acute Care experience.
  • MS/Tele experience.
  • Code Management skills.
  • Crisis Intervention/Management skills.
  • De-escalation techniques.
  • Emergency preparedness knowledge.
  • Facility/Bed Diversion management experience.
  • Managing Assaultive Behavior knowledge.
  • Experience with Restraints - physical/chemical.
  • Knowledge of Internal, Death of a patient - documentation and process.
  • Knowledge of Discharge AMA procedures.
  • Knowledge of Fitness for duty protocols.
  • Understanding of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Risk Management knowledge.
  • Sentinel events-monitoring and reporting experience.
  • Customer Service skills.
  • Experience managing narcotic diversion.
  • Incident reporting experience.
  • Infection control knowledge.
  • Isolation procedures knowledge.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements- DPH, TJC, OSHA, etc.
  • Understanding of organizational escalation process for facility.
  • Experience with Starting and maintaining IVs.
  • Experience with productivity standards and staffing requirements.
  • Coaching and counseling to performance standards.
  • Must be located more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage patient care across multiple units, including ED, Family Birthplace, Surgical Services, medical-surgical units, and ICU.
  • Provide support for the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and Code Team.
  • Collaborate with centralized staffing office and off-shift nurse manager for staffing and operational needs.
  • Act as a clinical expert resource for nursing staff.
  • Oversee and supervise nursing care delivered on all organizational units.
  • Manage and respond to emergency situations and facility-wide incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (DPH, TJC, OSHA, etc.).
  • Handle patient-related documentation and processes, including death of a patient, Discharge AMA, and Fitness for duty.
  • Manage narcotic diversion and ensure workplace safety.
  • Implement and monitor infection control and isolation procedures.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and manage aggressive behavior.
  • Participate in facility/bed diversion decisions.
  • Oversee the organizational escalation process.
