About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care in a pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) setting. The Registered Nurse will utilize the nursing process to deliver safe and individualized care, administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. Responsibilities include patient assessment, developing care plans, patient education, documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The nurse will also manage supplies, participate in inventory, and adhere to all center policies and procedures.

Requirements

Registered Nurse
Proficiency in using proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice.
Ability to assist with inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment.
Ability to maintain order and cleanliness of PreOp/PACU areas.
Ability to actively participate as a team member.
Knowledge of and adherence to using two patient identifiers, identifying and validating the patient and procedure.
Ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
Ability to provide comfort and reassurance to patients.
Ability to maintain patient privacy and dignity.
Proficiency in utilizing the nursing process for safe and individualized nursing care.
Ability to administer medication(s) per physician order.

Ability to monitor and report observed abnormalities.

Ability to assist or supervise patients attire change.

Ability to attend all required education.

Responsibilities

Actively participates as a team member in support of the total pre- and post-anesthesia care process.
Uses two patient identifiers, identifies and validates the patient and procedure to be performed.
Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the pre- and post-procedure area.
Provides comfort and reassurance to patient.
Maintains patient’s privacy and dignity.
Utilizes the nursing process to perform safe and individualized nursing care throughout the pre- and post-procedure process.
Administers medication(s) per order of physician.
Accurately comprehends and interprets physician orders and direction.
Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of patient care.
Evaluates patient condition and maintains accurate documentation during pre- and post-anesthesia period.
Monitors and reports any observed abnormalities to the other members of the healthcare team using the nursing assessment.
Documents patient-care records and other forms accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner, following policies and procedures.
Develops a plan of care, based on patient needs, related to the planned procedure and type of anesthesia.
Assesses the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation of the planned procedure.
Reviews post-procedure instructions with patient and responsible adult.
Determines and documents patient and responsible adult understanding of the discharge instructions and indications for seeking emergent care.
Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively.
Assesses each patient for fall precautions and addresses per Center policy.
Assists or supervises patients attire change (as necessary).
Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and by managing efficient turnover time.
Assists with supplies, drugs, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability; maintains order and cleanliness of pre-procedure area(s).
