About The Position

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of CP2 Hemodialysis, the Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently within their scope of practice when the patient(s) condition indicates predictable outcome. The RN delivers nursing care based on a pre-set plan of care with a delineated range of intervention. Collaboration and direction is required from the RN in situations that are beyond the scope of complexity designated to the RN. The delivery care model is Team Nursing with a staffing mix of both RN’s and RPN’s. In addition, the RN’s perform a variety of duties to assist the team, in accordance with the scope of practice and standards set by the hospital, Regulated Health Professionals Act and the College of Nurses of Ontario. In this role, you will provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, based on the philosophy and conceptual framework of Nursing Practice at Scarborough Health Network (SHN). This position involves rotating between CP2 Hemo, T4 Hemo, Centenary hemodialysis and the satellite hemodialysis sites.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS
  • Completion of a medication course for RN’s
  • Nephrology 1 and 2 courses completed from a recognized nephrology nursing certificate program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience (Successful applicants not completed the Nephrology 2 course will be expected to completed within one year)
  • Minimum of one year of hemodialysis experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Demonstrated assessment skills within the RN scope of practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Demonstrates excellent team building skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast paced demanding environment
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN's Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Strong work ethic and commitment is required
