The Hospital-Based Outpatient Oncology/Non-Oncology Infusion Unit is a specialized treatment area providing safe, efficient, and patient-centered infusion therapy for both oncology and non-oncology needs. This unit operates under hospital clinical standards and regulatory requirements, offering convenient outpatient infusion care. The unit has six infusion chairs and provides services such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic therapy, IV hydration, electrolyte replacement, blood product administration, therapeutic injections, and symptom-management interventions. Treatments are administered by oncology-trained registered nurses following evidence-based guidelines and specialized procedures. The care team collaborates closely with various medical professionals to ensure coordinated treatment planning and continuity of care. The environment prioritizes comfort, safety, and privacy while maintaining efficient patient flow. Nurses are required to obtain a Chemotherapy/biotherapy provider certificate within 6 months of hire and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) certification within three years of hire, with organizational support provided.
