About The Position

This role supports the care of children with heart failure, those listed for transplant, coordinating organ procurement and transplantation, and managing the care of patients post transplant. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN Transplant Coordinator functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by Washington State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. Coordinates clinical aspects of solid organ transplant patient care beginning with the evaluation for transplantation and continuing through and after transplantation. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, etc., as defined by Washington State Nursing Commission's applicable WAC. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), ART, etc. In accordance with House Bill 1155 (effective January 1, 2020), the following areas have clinical unpredictable needs and as a result will have a call obligation within their nursing positions: Apheresis, Cardiac Cath Lab, Dialysis, ECMO, Home Care Services, Imaging Services (including GI Procedures), Perioperative Services, and Transplant Coordinators.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Washington State RN License
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (or PEARS, or PALS accepted in lieu of BLS)
Must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management
Must have a current Washington State Driver's license

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Previous acute and/or ambulatory solid organ transplant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Case management experience
Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC)
PALS certification (required within 3 months of employment for certain areas and must be maintained)
NRP certification (to be maintained at all times for certain areas)
