About The Position

Backus Hospital, part of the Hartford HealthCare network, is seeking a Registered Nurse - Graduate Nurse for its Medical/Surgical Unit A3. Unit A3 is a 30-bed unit providing compassionate care to a diverse Medical/Surgical patient population. The team utilizes Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols and is committed to excellence in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, focusing on patient and family-centered care. The role involves demonstrating clinical competence through the nursing process, assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and evaluating patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of Nursing.
  • One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
  • Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
  • Basic knowledge of Nursing principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
  • Communicates effectively in order to provide technical or complex information as well as instruction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers and patients.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in this clinical area preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and certification in clinical area preferred.
