Registered Nurse - Graduate Nurse (RN, GN) - Med Surg A3

A3 is a 30-bed unit where our dedicated team of nursing and healthcare professionals provides compassionate care to a varied Medical/Surgical patient population. Our staff follows Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols for improved postoperative outcomes. We are an energetic, collaborative team that is committed to excellence within in a fast-paced environment. Requirements
- Graduate of a school of Nursing.
- One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of the Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
- Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications.
- Basic knowledge of Nursing principles and practices.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions.
- Communicates effectively in order to provide technical or complex information as well as instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers and patients.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, be flexible and a team player.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Commitment to customer service.
- Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data.
- Requires high level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information from various sources.
- Able to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances, problems and/or emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- Two (2) or more years of experience in this clinical area preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and certification in clinical area preferred.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship.
- Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.
