This specific role is for an Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the GI Endoscopy practice on Gonda 9 South, caring for adult patients in the GI procedure area. The role involves working across all three direct patient care phases: Pre-Procedure (Intake), Intra-Procedure (Procedures), and Post-Procedure (Recovery). The environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, critical thinking, time management, multi-tasking, and the ability to function autonomously. All RNs are trained to interpret ECG rhythms and must attain ACLS certification within their first 3-6 months. New graduate nurses are directed to apply through the Nurse Residency Program. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, supporting professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and adheres to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Leadership activities include preceptor roles, informal/formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are expected, with potential participation in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
