Venesco is recruiting for multiple Registered Nurses to provide services in the Geriatric unit at Menlo Park facility of the Palo Alto VA Medical Center. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country! Hours: Geriatric RNs will work 40 hours per week. RNs will be scheduled for 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts. The facility is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Duties: Geriatric RNS are responsible for a wide range of duties, catering to the needs of elderly patients. These tasks include:

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or in related field or a master’s degree in Nursing or in related field is highly preferred.
  • The contract RNs must have a current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the US or the District of Columbia. Proof of current license must be provided five business days prior to their first shift, and at the licensure renewal rate. This also applies to all other required certifications.
  • All nurses must have certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by an American Health Association vendor. Personnel must be able to demonstrate competency in providing CPR and have current basic life support (BLS) certification. Critical care Nurses shall have advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
  • Two years' experience as a registered nurse.

  • Geriatric expereince is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assuming a patient care assignment for a group of patients
  • Assessment and care of patients with a wide range of physical and psychological diagnoses and with a wide range of treatment modalities
  • Care of patients requiring special precautions such as isolation Inserting and maintenance of peripheral lines
  • Maintaining central lines for administration of intravenous fluid Providing emergency care as indicated
  • Administration of medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenously) and blood products
  • Verification of physician orders Complete and accurate documentation of care according to facility/unit policies
  • Phlebotomy and bedside testing
  • Psychological support of patients as indicated Complex wound dressing care and maintenance
  • May be required to work with COVID 19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUI), for COVID 19
