About The Position

InterHealth Staffing, a division of TGH, is offering 13-week seasonal assignments for Registered Nurses in General Surgery. These positions offer competitive pay, potential for contract extensions, and the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. Tampa General Hospital is a leading safety net hospital, affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, and serves as a primary teaching hospital. This role is within a Magnet-designated nursing team and focuses on providing excellent and compassionate care. The specific unit is a 26-bed Emergency General Surgery post-operative unit, recognized for its high standards of evidence-based care, patient safety, and clinical outcomes. The unit specializes in the recovery and management of adult surgical patients, including those recovering from emergent procedures such as appendectomies, cholecystectomies, hernia repairs, bowel resections, and complex wound surgeries. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team and emphasizes early mobility, infection prevention, and wound healing.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the specific division (General Surgery) being hired into.
Deemed competent to work independently.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
BLS required.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients.
Plans and implements nursing care.
Documents nursing assessments.
Identifies and reports situations requiring further intervention.
Formulates and communicates a goal-directed plan of care.
Assures patient rights.
Performs job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and principles of quality improvement.
