About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the General Intensive Care Unit (GICU). This position offers up to a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus for qualified applicants. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses the clinical knowledge and skills required for specific clinical areas. This Beacon Award-winning 16-bed General Intensive Care Unit commonly treats patients with myocardial infarctions, life-threatening dysrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute respiratory distress, vascular surgeries, and general surgeries with complications.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS and ACLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg nursing

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Apply clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
