The Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit (A2N) is hiring for 0.9 FTE RN - Night shift. A2N is a 28-bed, fast-paced, high acuity, mixed model unit that includes Progressive Care and MedSurg patients. This unit's focus is the treatment of cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients through surgical and medical management of diagnoses. Diagnoses include cardiac arrhythmias, circulatory disorders, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), cardiac valve repairs/replacement, and post heart catheterization procedural care. Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit is the only Progressive Care Unit at Methodist Hospital with registered nurses who are specially trained in the care of Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD). With the required specialized care of these patients, the diagnoses can be varied. This position currently qualifies for a NEW hourly wage differential in addition to standard shift, holiday differentials and a relocation bonus. Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
