About The Position

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for their Float Pool. This position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7 PM to 7 AM. The role provides advanced nursing care for patients requiring complex assessments, therapies, and high-intensity interventions. The nurse will analyze assessment data to anticipate changes and respond quickly to evolving patient conditions, prioritizing critical information for immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused action. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing specialized equipment, interpreting data such as cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic pressures, and responding to emergencies according to established protocols. The nurse will also assess patient needs, develop and evaluate individualized care plans, advocate for patients and families, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Coordination and delegation of patient care activities, accurate documentation, and maintaining clinical competency are also key aspects of this role, along with modeling professionalism and supporting departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.
  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in critical care or progressive care is highly preferred.
