The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a highly skilled individual with a keen and accurate attention to detail. This position is responsible for working with surgeons in the operating by controlling bleeding, suturing incisions and wounds and intervening if complications arise. The RNFA may only perform as first assistant during the procedure and may not act concurrently as scrub nurse. Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions.
