REGISTERED NURSE - FIRST ASSIST (FT VARIED)
About The Position
Services as a Specialized Registered Nurse who provides the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and other similar settings. Assists the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. Functions interdependently with the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgement necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient. Functions within the state laws regarding surgical assisting and the state nursing practice act. The Certified RNFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred.
- Nurses without a BSN may be grandfathered into this job if current with both CNOR and CRNFA certifications.
- Minimum of two (2) years perioperative nursing.
- CNOR and CRNFA certifications.
- CRNFA must be obtained within 2 years, if not present on hire.
