Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) to perform an expanded perioperative role. The RNFA works alongside surgeons during surgical procedures, providing direct patient care and collaborating with the perioperative team, patients' designated support persons, and other healthcare providers. The role involves pre-operative focused nursing assessments, analysis of assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses, and identification and communication of desired patient outcomes throughout the perioperative continuum. The RNFA functions as a member of the surgical team, contributing to the efficiency of the peri-operative department by considering safety, effectiveness, efficiency, environment, and cost in patient care. They monitor patient responses, modify care plans, administer medications, and develop and manage individual plans of care related to RNFA interventions. The role also includes evaluating patient progress, systematically evaluating the quality of nursing practice, and participating in professional development and lifelong learning. The RNFA integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet patient and family needs, incorporates research findings into practice, practices ethically, advocates for perioperative health safety, and provides leadership in the profession.
