About The Position

Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Multispecialty Care team. Ideal candidates are patient focused, mission driven caregivers looking for an opportunity to apply clinical knowledge to coordinate and perform hands on acute patient care at the bedside. This role is within the Surgery department and operates on a daytime schedule, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with shared call responsibilities. The position is located at St John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification is required for colleagues hired after April 24, 2024.
  • Successful completion of an RNFA program is required for colleagues hired after April 24, 2024.
  • Registered Nurses (RNs) who were practicing as RNFAs prior to January 1, 2020, who do not have a baccalaureate degree, are permitted to practice as RNFAs.

Nice To Haves

  • First Assist experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
  • In lieu of CNOR certification/RNFA program, we will accept an RN with Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist (CSTFA) certification AND at least 2 years of OR experience as a first assist, with the understanding the colleague will successfully obtain CNOR certification and enter a RNFA program within 6 months of being eligible to obtain the CNOR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform hands-on acute patient care at the bedside.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to patient care.
  • Function as a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA).
