About The Position

Baptist Health Walker Hospital is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room on the Night Shift. This role provides advanced nursing care for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments, high-intensity interventions, and continuous monitoring. The nurse will use clinical judgment and assessment data to anticipate, prioritize, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions. Responsibilities include operating, monitoring, and adjusting specialized medical equipment, interpreting data from monitoring systems, and responding to emergencies using established nursing standards, protocols, and life-saving interventions. The role also involves assessing patient needs, developing and revising individualized care plans, evaluating patient outcomes, advocating for patients and families, and ensuring age-appropriate care across the lifespan. Collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams is expected, with opportunities to serve as charge nurse, preceptor, or educator. Accurate documentation, appropriate task delegation, and compliance with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards are essential.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health unit/department.
  • Maintains current State of Alabama RN license.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • 1 year experience required unless approved by AVP level or above.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in critical care or progressive care is highly preferred.
