About The Position

This is a full-time, night shift position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Epilepsy Monitoring. The role involves providing safe, patient-centered care, demonstrating compassionate communication, engaging patients and families in care decisions, promoting a safe and healing environment, and collaborating effectively within interdisciplinary teams. The facility is a 99-bed hospital with a dedicated team of physicians and staff focused on providing high-quality medical care. The department includes an ICU, an Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) with EMU/EEG capability, and emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and a supportive, family-like atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing required, or Associate Degree in Nursing required, or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, or Successful completion of an RN residency program
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – active license required upon hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 90 days of hire
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training – required within 90 days of hire
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and addresses physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs of patients.
  • Delivers individualized care plans and maintains patient comfort.
  • Ensures accurate documentation, medication safety, and timely assessments.
  • Treats patients and families with dignity through active listening, non-judgmental attitudes, appropriate communication, reassurance, and use of approved communication tools.
  • Incorporates patient values and preferences, involves families as appropriate, supports shared decision-making, and provides education using evidence-based resources and teach-back methods.
  • Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and safety; follows national patient safety goals; utilizes error-prevention tools and technology; and supports clean, secure, and therapeutic surroundings.
  • Works effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adapts to changing patient and staffing needs.
  • Participates in shared governance, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical nursing practice.
  • Delivers high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
