This role involves the delivery of patient care in the Emergency Department through the nursing process of interview, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and triage. The Emergency Department (ED) is a 22-bed unit within a trauma III hospital setting, emphasizing teamwork and effective communication for optimal patient care. Canyon Vista Medical Center is a 106-bed Joint Commission Accredited facility located in Sierra Vista, Arizona, offering various specialty services including a Level III Trauma unit, Center of Excellence for Total Joint Replacement, Level I Nursery, and an American College of Radiology Accredited Facility.

Requirements

  • Current Arizona or compact state RN license
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Must have an active Arizona or Compact RN License
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, HAZMAT and Handle with Care certifications are required within 90 days of hire
  • TNCC required within one year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred
  • One year of experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivery of patient care in the Emergency Department through the nursing process of interview, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and triage.
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
