About The Position

Meritus is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Emergency Department. This is a full-time position with a mid-shift schedule (2:30 PM - 3:00 AM). The Emergency Department is a MIEMSS Designated Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, and Cardiac Interventional Center, serving approximately 72,000 patients annually. The role involves providing advanced emergency care for a wide range of conditions including multi-system trauma, life-threatening medical conditions, general medical-surgical emergencies, orthopedic and neurological injuries, minor trauma, and psychiatric crises for both adult and pediatric patients. The position offers a collaborative environment with physicians and trauma surgeons, competitive compensation, benefits, and specialized training opportunities. Meritus is an ENA-designated on-site training center for TNCC and ENPC certifications and has a robust forensic nurse program.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or a compact state with the appropriate designation.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • High level of organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred.
  • Specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced emergency care and stabilization for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries.
  • Care for adult and pediatric patients experiencing multi-system trauma, life-threatening medical conditions, general medical-surgical emergencies, orthopedic and neurological injuries, minor trauma, and psychiatric crises.
  • Collaborate with physicians, trauma surgeons, and emergency medicine experts.
  • Utilize cutting-edge technology and expertise in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
  • Participate in specialized training opportunities such as TNCC and ENPC.
  • Provide specialized care for victims of violence through the forensic nurse program.
