The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) is responsible for rapid triage, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This role provides direct nursing care to a diverse patient population, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The RN must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to a wide range of emergency situations, including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and critical care emergencies. Advanced responsibilities include ongoing care and monitoring for critically ill or unstable patients, managing patients requiring prolonged stays, and assessing/managing patients with psychiatric or behavioral health conditions. The ED RN may also coordinate interfacility transfers and function in resource-limited environments. This is a full-time position requiring rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet 24/7 care needs.
