About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. This position requires a minimum of two years of registered nursing experience, with at least one full year in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting. The contract is for 13 weeks, with every other weekend availability required. Requests for time off (RTO) are auto-approved up to five total days; for five consecutive days, one week will be added to the end of the contract. The unit is a Level I Trauma Center with 51-60 beds/bays. The patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The patient mix is approximately 75% ambulatory/outpatient ED population and 25% inpatient boarders managed in the ED. Pediatric volume is approximately 5%.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of registered nursing experience.
  • At least one full year of experience in a high-acuity Emergency Department setting.
  • Independent experience with airway management (Breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, Mechanical ventilation, RSI medication administration, Procedural sedation, Chest tube setup & care, Tracheostomy care). Experience limited to floor or step-down units is not sufficient.
  • Comfortable managing a variety of critical situations (Trauma, Cardiac, Neurologic, Medical/Surgical, Burn, Behavioral Health, Pediatric/NICU/PICU boarders).
  • Active PA RN License.
  • BLS Certification.
  • ACLS Certification.
  • PALS Certification.
  • NIHSS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of critical situations including trauma patients, cardiac emergencies, neurologic emergencies, medical and surgical emergencies, burn patients, behavioral health crises, and pediatric and NICU/PICU boarders when held in the ED.
  • Provide airway and respiratory care, including breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, mechanical ventilation, RSI medication administration, procedural sedation, chest tube setup & care, and tracheostomy care.
  • Work every other weekend.
