Registered Nurse Education Coordinator - Remote
About The Position
The Registered Nurse Education Coordinator serves as a member of the FirstChoice nursing leadership team. This position will be working remotely. The purpose of this role is to develop, design, and implement the FirstChoice Iowa Regional program educational plan. The coordinator will assist in the development of FirstChoice educational programs in collaboration with site-specific resources. A key aspect of this role is to facilitate staff competency in providing relationship-based care by using adult learning methodology, which incorporates demonstrating interest in, and respect for learners, and creating an environment of safety for both patients and nursing staff. The coordinator works to assess, plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate skill acquisition and the learning process of system-wide employees. Work activities include collaborative functions such as orientation, preceptor development and programming, continuing education, staff development, mandatory education, and new product/new process education.
Requirements
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of nursing practice and education normally obtained through a Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Five (5) years' experience in a Nursing department with increasing responsibility and interest in education, practice and quality.
- Minimum of one (1) year in a formal Nursing Educator role.
- Must have current Registered Nursing License.
- Ability to continuously learn and seek professional development and growth through journals, professional local, regional and national affiliations, continuing education programs, seminars, and workshops to keep abreast of trends.
- Experience in designing and developing various types of training and curriculum, and training trainers to deliver content.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate Learning - Nurse Educators are responsible for creating an environment that facilitates student learning and the achievement of desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor outcomes.
- Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization - Nurse Educators recognize their responsibility for helping nursing staff develop and integrate the values and behaviors expected.
- Use Assessment and Evaluation Strategies - Nurse Educators use a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning.
- Participate in Course/Program Design and Evaluation of Outcomes - Nurse Educators are responsible for formulating and evaluating course outcomes, and designing courses / programs that reflect contemporary health care trends.
- Function as a Change Agent and Leader- Nurse Educators model as a change agent.
- Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement in the Nurse Educator Role - Nurse Educators recognize their role is multidimensional and that an ongoing commitment to develop and maintain competence in the role is essential.
- Engage in Scholarship- Nurse Educators acknowledge teaching is a scholarly activity.
- Function within the Educational Environment - Nurse Educators are knowledgeable about the educational environment within which they practice.
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.
- Helps identify problems and offer solutions, and participates in their resolution.
- Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, employees, and visitors in St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Follows HIPAA policies and procedures.
