About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ED) at Ascension Saint Thomas Hickman in Centerville, TN. The position is PRN (as needed) and involves night shifts. The nurse will be responsible for evaluating patient conditions, implementing life-saving interventions in a high-acuity environment, carrying out physician orders, monitoring patient stability, and adapting care plans. The role also includes coordinating multidisciplinary trauma and emergency teams, providing education and support to patients and families, and coordinating diagnostic testing, admissions, or discharge planning to ensure optimal department flow.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Expertly evaluate patient conditions to prioritize care and implement life-saving interventions in a high-acuity environment.
Precisely carry out physician orders and monitor patient stability, adapting care plans instantly as conditions evolve.
Act as the primary coordinator for the multidisciplinary trauma and emergency teams to ensure seamless, well-timed care.
Provide clear, empathetic education and support to patients and families navigating the stress of an emergency visit.
Coordinate urgent diagnostic testing and facilitate efficient admissions or discharge planning to maintain optimal department flow.
