The Registered Nurse (RN) in Dialysis at Roper Hospital delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process. This involves data collection and assessment, identifying and prioritizing patient problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care. The RN also coordinates and provides patient teaching activities and collaborates with health team members. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, the RN conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates its effectiveness. They administer medications safely according to the State of Practice and organizational policies, and serve as the point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments. The RN also acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the department. This role incorporates a professional practice model into care delivery, emphasizing a compassionate, relationship-based approach to patient care.
