About The Position

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Nephrology unit at Roper Hospital. This full-time position involves working 36 scheduled weekly hours on a Days/Evenings shift (7pm-7:30am), three shifts a week, with requirements for every other weekend, on-call, holidays, and storm team participation. The primary function of this role is to deliver comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, which includes data collection, assessment, identifying patient needs, and evaluating care outcomes. The RN will also coordinate, provide, and direct patient teaching activities, and coordinate care provided by other health team members. The role emphasizes collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyze data, create and implement treatment plans, and evaluate their effectiveness. The RN is responsible for administering medications safely, serving as a central point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments, acting as a patient safety advocate through quality improvement, and integrating a professional practice model into care delivery.

  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required) OR Diploma in Nursing (required)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identify and determine the priority of patient’s problems/needs, and evaluate the process and outcome of nursing care
  • Coordinate, provide and direct patient teaching activities
  • Coordinate the care provided by health team members
  • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment and evaluate treatment effectiveness
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures
  • Serve as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery
