The Denver Hospice has an immediate opening for a Registered Nurse - Day Shift, Inpatient Care Center. This role provides patient care using nursing skills and processes in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, keeping within the policies, values and mission of the organization. The RN is a member of the Interdisciplinary Team/Group (IDT/IDG) and provides skilled nursing coordination of care to patients (neonates to geriatrics) as determined by the Plan of Care (POC). The role involves using education, mentoring, guidance and interventions to achieve goals of care, collaborating across disciplines, and participating in POC in IDT/IDG meetings. The RN demonstrates appropriate nursing care, including communicating with the attending provider for medications and supplies, and educates patients, families, caregivers, and the community regarding hospice philosophy and palliative treatments or home health. The position also includes supervising Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) and delegating specific tasks per agency policy, participating in related services such as community education, team training, staff/board committees, and orientation of employees. Understanding the acute care needs of patients admitted to the Inpatient/Critical Care Units and completing initial nursing assessments and admissions processes for newly admitted patients are also key responsibilities. The role manages customer service needs unique to a care unit.
