The Denver Hospice has an immediate opening for a Registered Nurse - Day Shift, Inpatient Care Center. This role involves providing patient care using nursing skills and processes in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, keeping within the policies, values, and mission of the organization. The RN is a member of the Interdisciplinary Team/Group (IDT/IDG). The position requires providing skilled nursing coordination of care to patients (neonates to geriatrics) as determined by the Plan of Care (POC), using education, mentoring, guidance, and interventions to achieve goals of care. Collaboration across disciplines to coordinate patient care and participation in POC in IDT/IDG meetings are essential. The role includes demonstrating appropriate nursing care, communicating with attending providers for medications and supplies, and educating patients, families, caregivers, and the community regarding hospice philosophy and palliative treatments or home health. The RN will supervise Certified Nurse Aides (CNA), delegate specific tasks per agency policy, and participate in related services such as community education, team training, staff/board committees, and orientation of employees. Understanding the acute care needs of patients admitted to the Inpatient/Critical Care Units, completing initial nursing assessments and admissions processes for newly admitted patients, and managing customer service needs unique to a care unit are also key responsibilities.
