About The Position

We are hiring a Registered Nurse for the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) department at Columbia St Mary's Milwaukee. This is a full-time position with a rotating shift schedule. The role involves performing both scrub and circulating functions during complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, assisting physicians and anesthesia, and preparing the operating rooms and surgical instruments.

Requirements

Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 2 years of recent CV Operating Room experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, aseptic practice, and patient safety.
Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Perform both scrub functions and handling of instruments and supplies used during complex cardiovascular surgical procedures.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient during cardiovascular procedures.
Assist operating physicians and anesthesia with accessing and maintaining lines and intubation during cardiovascular procedures.
Prepare cardiovascular operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
