About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room at Ascension St. John Medical Center. The position is full-time, working four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Call is required, and the nurse must be available to work occasional nights, weekends, or holidays. The nurse will lead the surgical environment by transitioning between scrub and circulating roles, ensuring precision and safety in complex cardiovascular procedures. They will advocate for patient safety through monitoring and communication, managing the total nursing care for patients during surgery. The role involves orchestrating the operative suite by preparing specialized cardiovascular instrumentation and advanced technology. The nurse will also collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers, managing line access and intubation to maintain patient physiological stability.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

  • Orchestrate the operative suite by expertly preparing specialized cardiovascular instrumentation and advanced technology, ensuring the team is equipped for success before the first incision.
  • Collaborate as a critical partner to surgeons and anesthesia providers, proactively managing line access and intubation to maintain physiological stability throughout the case.
