Community Heart & Vascular Hospital is expanding its ECMO program, enhancing critical care services. This initiative unites expert teams in cardiac surgery, critical care, perfusion, and ECMO Specialist RNs under standardized protocols for seamless care of critically ill patients. The program establishes clear pathways for patient selection, cannulation, and management, adhering to national standards. This reflects Community Health Network's commitment to providing exceptional, life-saving care. The Registered Nurse ECMO Specialist will provide nursing care to cardiac or respiratory failure patients requiring ECMO therapy in the Cardiovascular ICU. Responsibilities include patient management, monitoring, ECMO circuit maintenance, and rapid response for cannulation, equipment initiation, and setup. Training will be provided within the Cardiovascular ICU, with expectations to function as both a staff RN and an ECMO Specialist. While prior ECMO experience is beneficial, training will be provided. The Cardiovascular ICU is a 24-bed unit serving critically ill cardiac/vascular patients.
